Dr. Gül Mükerrem Öztürk is an associate professor specializing in Georgian Language and Literature, comparative literary studies, and cultural interactions. She currently serves as the Head of the Georgian Language and Literature Department at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University in Turkey. With a primary research focus on Georgian Language and Literature.
Dr. Öztürk is conducting research during her academic visit at the University of Oxford on Modernism and Cultural Interactions in Post-Soviet Georgian Literature. Her work examines the evolution of Georgian modernism, its role in shaping national identity, and its impact on fostering cultural exchanges.
Dr. Öztürk earned her PhD in Literary Studies from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in Georgia, following a master’s degree in Georgian literature from Tbilisi State University. She has held various academic and administrative positions, including Erasmus Program Coordinator and Quality Commission Leader, at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University.
Her research interests encompass modernism, translation studies, and the sociocultural dimensions of post-Soviet Georgian literature.
