REES Careers Event Success

What's life like after Oxford? At our recent careers event, we welcomed back four REES alumni who shared their experiences of life after Oxford with our current students and reflected on the valuable skills they had gained from the REES programme. All of our former students embarked on different pathways, which allowed for an insightful reflection on the diverse possibilities for REES students in the job market. Dr Max Hodgson, who is now a lecturer in History here at Oxford, shared his experience of the challenges of making it in academia, while reflecting on the value of the research and analysis skills he gained from the REES programme. Second up was Nikolay Manov, now working as a policy advisor for the Department for Transport, who spoke of the trials and tribulations of working in the civil service. A different perspective was given by Audrey Dubois-Hebert, who has moved on from the Russian and East European region to become an oil analyst specialising in the Middle East. Finally, we heard from Alison Smith about her experience in the world of politics, as well as her recent return to academia. The presentations were followed by a lively Q&A, with our current students getting some great advice about the many pathways open to them after REES. Huge thanks to all our guests for coming to speak to us!
