Dr Karaulashvili holds PhD and MA degrees in Medieval Studies (Central European University, Budapest) and an MA degree in Armenian and Georgian Studies from the Department of Eastern Languages (Tbilisi State University, Georgia). She is an Associate Professor at Ilia State University, Georgia (School of Arts and Sciences). Her research interests include history of ancient Georgian literature; historiography; hagiography; apocryphal literature (she studies the Abgar legend); identity and memory studies. Her current research project explores interrelations of Georgian and East Christian historiography.
