Dr Irina Lobzhanidze received her Ph.D. in Linguistics at Ilia State University, Tbilisi, Georgia in 2013. Her research interests lie in the fields of Digital Humanities, Computational Linguistics and Georgian Studies. She is a Professor of Linguistics at the School of Arts and Sciences, Ilia State University and teaches courses for MA and PhD students with majors in “Georgian Studies” and “Applied Linguistics”.
In 10 years of research on Georgian Language she covered topics on Natural Language Processing, particularly, the computational modeling of Modern Georgian Language implemented as a finite-state transducer (xfst, lexc) and participated in the development of Georgian Language Corpus and compiled the Online Dictionary of Idioms.
Over the course of the current fellowship at Russian and East European Studies of the University of Oxford, Irina Lobzhanidze will be focused on preparation of Wardrops’ Collection Online.
