Alex MacFarlane has a DPhil from Oxford on the Armenian version of the Alexander Romance, and is now a postdoctoral scholar working on the circulation of several fictional tales in and beyond the Caucasus, examining their textual connections in the medieval and early modern periods, with a particular interest in how they represent remote regions at the edges of the world. While at Oxford, Alex has attended Georgian classes with Lia Chokoshvili, and participated in the translation project Unlocking the Door (2017).
